Classes
Ballet is the core classical dance form requiring expression, precision of movement and control.
A strong ballet technique is the basis of all other dance styles as it encourages grace and balance whilst teaching discipline and poise.
Tap uses rhythmical patterns and syncopated phrasing.
It can be performed to a wide variety of musical styles from Broadway to Stomp.
Jazz is fun and dynamic, allowing development of individual style and increasing flexibility and strength.
It covers a wide range of musical and dance styles from pop to hip hop and R and B.

Faculty
Kate Bowers | Principal
Kate's involvement with the Emmerson School of dance started at the tender age of three when she began her ballet training with Gay Sutton. At 13 Kate was invited to be a cecchetti scholar and at the age of 16 she won a place at 'The West Street Ballet School' in Covent Garden, where she studied under some well respected teachers of the Cecchetti method.
After this she went to the London Studio Centre where she completed her Diploma. Kate has now been teaching at the school for many years since gaining her Associate and Associate Diploma Qualification. She loves the challenge of teaching and helping students realise their full potential and feels very privileged to be carrying on the fantastic work started by Rita Emmerson.
Rebecca VASS | Teacher
Rebecca started dancing at the tender age of 5 where her love of dance began. At the age of 16 she was awarded a scholarship to dance college where she completed a 3 year dance and performing arts diploma. Rebecca realised she had an interest in teaching and went on to further her studies.
She currently holds her Foundation in Dance Instruction with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and a national qualification in Arts Development and Teaching. She also continues to perform and has recently worked as part of a professional Can-Can troupe. Rebecca has been involved with Emmerson's since the age of 18 and has a real passion for teaching and supporting young dancers to help them develop and achieve their full potential.
Jane Ward | Office
Jane danced as a young girl and studied Ballet, Tap and contemporary throughout her school life. She was involved in many dance productions and generally enjoyed "everything dance".
Whilst this training did not progress into a dance career it did give Jane the great enthusiasm and love of dance that she brings to Emmerson today. Childhood experience along with recent involvement in Emmerson as teaching assistant, an adult student and parent, have given her the insight and tools to effectively manage the running of the school office.
